Cory Asbury Earns Second No 1 On Christian Airplay

'Reckless Love' ruled for 13 weeks in 2018.

Singer-songwriter and worship leader Cory Asbury — of Bethel Music, the Redding, California-based musical arm of Bethel Church — notches his second straight career-opening No. 1 on Billboard‘s Christian Airplay chart, as “The Father’s House” ascends 3-1 on the list dated June 6.

The song collected 9.5 million audience impressions in the week ending May 31, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Asbury wrote “House” with Benjamin Hastings and Ethan Hulse, both of whom are members of worship collective Hillsong United. The song is the lead single from Asbury’s forthcoming third studio album.

“House” follows Asbury’s maiden hit “Reckless Love,” which led Christian Airplay for 13 weeks beginning in April 2018.

“Wow, part of me had begun to believe I’d always be in the shadow of ‘Reckless Love,’ so to see ‘The Father’s House’ resonate so quickly and so deeply in listener’s hearts is a massive blessing,” Asbury tells Billboard. “I am so thankful to my Bethel Music family and radio stations all across the country.”

Bethel Music boasts one Christian Airplay No. 1: “Raise a Hallelujah,” with Jonathan David Helser and Melissa Helser, led for two weeks last August.

On the streaming-, airplay- and sales-fueled Hot Christian Songs chart, Asbury’s “House” ranks at No. 5, after reaching No. 4. It drew 1.2 million U.S. streams and sold 1,000 downloads in the tracking week ending May 28.

“Reckless Love” ruled Hot Country Songs for 18 weeks beginning in March 2018.
