Drake Impersonator Says He Gets $5000 for Appearances

Even Drake’s lookalike is getting paid.

A 22-year-old man from Toronto who goes by IzzyyDrake on Instagram has been making a career off impersonating the “Way 2 Sexy” rapper. During an appearance on the “No Jumper” podcast, Fake Drake opened up about his doppelgänger lifestyle.

“People DM me, ‘Hey, you wanna come to my event?’ ‘Cause they can’t pay Drake, he’s too expensive,” said Fake Drake, who even has Drake’s signature Certified Lover Boy heart shaved into his hairline.

He reveals that he gets paid $5000 just for showing up to gigs in the U.S. and Canada, in addition to travel accommodations. The self-proclaimed “viral overnight” sensation has over 170,000 Instagram followers and has been photographed with Drake’s friends including Tory Lanez.

“I’ve been doing my thing,” he said.

Drake is apparently not concerned about his impersonator, according to a mutual friend of theirs. “Drake was just like, ‘It doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t affect me, let the guy get his bag. It isn’t affecting me,’” he reportedly said. “He didn’t really give a f**k.”

Fake Drake insists that he’s not trying to start any trouble and just wants to provide for his family. “I’m just being humble. I’m just doing my thing. I got kids. I’m doing this shit for my family.”

“I didn’t study to become an artist. I didn’t ask for this life, it’s just like God’s plan,” he said in reference to the Drake hit.
