Up-and-coming rapper Bris (born Christopher Treadwell) was shot and killed on Sunday (June 21) in his hometown of Sacramento.
The 24-year-old MC was found by officers with a life-threatening gunshot would and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from the Sacramento Police Department.
Though the Sacramento PD didn’t name Treadwell, KCRA confirmed the rapper’s identity, with the police noting that there were reports of shots fired in the area and officers determined that there was a “solo vehicle collision” that happened before the shooting.
Police said homicide detectives were conducting a neighborhood canvass to search for evidence, with the circumstances leading to Treadwell’s death still unclear; Sacramento PD had tell Billboard there is no update on the case at press time. No arrests had been made at press time, according to the Sacramento PD statement. Billboard has reached out to the Sacramento County Coroner’s office for confirmation on Treadwell’s cause of death.
