Foolio Murder Trial: Four Men Found Guilty of First-Degree Murder

A jury in Tampa, Fla., has convicted four men of first-degree murder and conspiracy in the 2024 killing of Jacksonville rapper Foolio.

All four defendants in the murder trial of Jacksonville, Fla., rapper Foolio have been found guilty. On Friday, May 8, 2026, a jury in Tampa, Fla., returned a verdict convicting Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright, Rashad Murphy, and Davion Murphy of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The decision followed a month-long trial and eight hours of jury deliberation.

According to reports from the Tampa Bay Tribune, the convictions extend beyond the primary murder charges. Gathright and the Murphys were also found guilty of attempted second-degree murder in connection with the wounding of several other individuals during the shooting. Furthermore, the jury determined that the state successfully proved that Chance and the Murphys were affiliated with a gang and that the fatal incident was directly linked to their gang-related activities.

Prosecutors established that the defendants, alongside Chance’s girlfriend, Alicia Andrews, executed a coordinated mission to stalk and kill the rapper while he was in Tampa celebrating his birthday on June 23, 2024. Surveillance footage presented during the trial captured Gathright, Rashad Murphy, and Davion Murphy firing automatic weapons at a parked vehicle occupied by the rapper outside a Holiday Inn. Investigators testified that Chance and Andrews were responsible for tracking the rapper’s movements and providing his location to the shooters.

The legal proceedings are set to continue with the penalty phase, scheduled to begin on Monday, May 11. The prosecution has indicated its intent to seek the death penalty for all four convicted men.

This verdict follows the conviction of Alicia Andrews, who was found guilty of manslaughter last November for her role in the plot. She is currently awaiting sentencing.
