Doesn’t matter if you’re an older hip hop head or a new one, nobody has not heard of the legendary Mobb Deep.
If that still doesn’t jog your memory, we suggest you sit back and put on ‘Shook Ones, Pt. II‘, to familiarise yourself with one of the most timeless beats in hip hop of all time; an instrumental that was made complete with the coming together of Havoc and Prodigy. Now if you’ve been shook once, its time for you to be shaken up again because Havoc has just teased new Mobb Deep music produced by The Alchemist — and yes, this insinuates the official release of stashed verses by the late Prodigy.
In all likelihood, it is a full length album project that is on the way. Taking to Instagram, Havoc announced that he’s at the ALC studios with Alchemist working in the back and stating how new music from one of the most memorable hip hop duos of all time is on the way. With Alchemist in the mix, fresh off the success of his production on Kendrick‘s ‘Meet the Grahams‘ diss track against Drake, and of course, his project as project as part of Gangrene, the latest joint is about to be an instant classic.

This track is especially monumental, not only because it transcends generation defining sounds, but also because it shows the power of posthumous music that lives on long after an artist is gone. In and of itself, the moment is beautiful for the culture to witness. While some fans doubted the efficacy of such a release, many believe that Alchemist is just the right producer to take on a task like this and do justice to Prodigy and his masterful penmanship. The only thing that now remains is to see if it all really falls into place. Will we have more freestyle classics on this one? We don’t know, but we sure as hell are as excited as you may be!
Havoc from Mobb Deep just posted on insta that’s he’s in the studio with Alchemist working on some new Mobb Deep music, which means there are still unreleased Prodigy verses pic.twitter.com/9UfGSCHmNN

And to end it off, here’s an old reminder from The Alchemist himself:
Mobb Deep is still the best group of all time. Havoc & Myself might have to remind you soon.
