Back in April, it was reported that Jennifer Lopez and fiancé Alex Rodriguez were planning a possible bid for the New York Mets.
While that original plan didn’t come to fruition, there are now fresh reports that the power couple are bidding again for the team, this time together with a group of investors that includes former linebacker Brian Urlacher, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, offensive lineman Joe Thomas, Denver Nuggets center Mason Plumlee and Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal.
According to a report July 13 on ESPN, the J-Lo-Rodriguez group bid was for $1.7 billion, with the couple putting in $300 million of their own money.
Bidding together with Lopez and Rodriguez, Kelce told ESPN, “is a crazy opportunity […] “Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez are a star-studded couple that have gotten to where they are because they work their tails off. And they’re good human beings. I thank them for letting me be a part of this.”The Lopez-Rodriguez group aren’t the only ones aiming for The Mets.
ESPN reported that Steve Cohen, a hedge fund billionaire, has bid $2 billion for the team. Lopez did not return requests for comment.
