A DJ for Jack Harlow has been charged with murder in a shooting at a Louisville nightclub.
On Tuesday (May 11), Ronnie Tyshon O’Bannon, also known as Ronnie Lucciano, was indicted on charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence in the fatal shooting of Kasmira Nash.
According to The Associated Press, Nash, 37, was working at Vibes Restaurant and Ultra Lounge during a party for the Kentucky Derby in the early hours of May 1 when the shooting happened. Police said the mother of two died at the scene from a gunshot wound. Another male victim was shot and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
O’Bannon turned himself in to Louisville Metro Police after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He is a member of Harlow’s Private Garden musical group and started DJing for Harlow on his first tour in 2018.
The “WHATS POPPIN” rapper was seen on video near O’Bannon in the nightclub during the shooting, reports WDRB News. The footage appears to show a disagreement getting physical before a single shot was fired.
O’Bannon is expected to plead not guilty to the charges. “I’m confident he’ll be exonerated,” his attorney, Rob Eggert, told WDRB.
The victim’s family members were upset with the club for letting O’Bannon in the building. “They knew there had been an altercation prior to this with this same DJ, so he was not supposed to be allowed back in the club,” said Nash’s mother, Kathy Davis. “… I felt like he should have been removed or they should have taken my daughter and told her to go home.”
O’Bannon is being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on $500,000 bond. An arraignment is set for May 17.
