Miley Cyrus is (finally) coming, y’all! On Tuesday (Aug. 4), the superstar took to social media to tease the forthcoming release of her long-awaited album She Is Miley Cyrus. Plus, a teaser of a new song called “Midnight Sky” is available to hear via the Instagram Music feature.
“Meet Miley Cyrus….. again. #SheIsComing #ButForRealThisTime,” Cyrus tweeted, using a clip from the music video for her 2008 single “Start All Over,” which was featured on her debut solo album Breakout.
“I’m gonna start all over/ Out of the fire and into the fire again/ You make me want to forget and/ Start all over/ Here it comes straight out of my mind or worse/ Another chance to get burned and/ Start all over/ I’m gonna start all over,” a teen Miley belts out on the punchy pop-rock track, sending the perfect message for her musical comeback.
In a separate post — coyly captioned “TEASE” — Cyrus gave fans a taste of what they can expect from the new music straight from the studio. Wearing a white tank and showing off her newly platinum shag, the singer took a selfie video while listening to a track off She Is Miley Cyrus.
“It’s been a long night and the mirror is tellin’ me to go home/ But it’s been a long time since I’ve felt this good on my own/ Nine years went by with my hands tied up in your ropes/ Forever and ever, no more,” she croons on the new song, possibly referencing her relationship with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.
Hours later, the track title was revealed to be titled “Midnight Sky” on Instagram, when the snippet and its accompanying cover art was uploaded to the social platform’s Instagram Stories feature.
While Cyrus has yet to announce a formal release date for She Is Miley Cyrus, the new LP will follow her 2019 EP She Is Coming, which featured lead single “Mother’s Daughter” as well as collaborations with Ghostface Killah (“D.R.E.A.M.”), Rupaul (“Cattitude”) and Swae Lee and Mike Will Made It (“Party Up the Street”).
