Ms. Rachel Pledges to Match Macklemore’s $1 Million Palestine Donation

Popular children's educator Ms. Rachel has announced she will match Macklemore's $1 million donation to humanitarian aid for Palestinians, calling on other wealthy figures to follow suit.

YouTube children’s educator Ms. Rachel has officially announced her commitment to match Macklemore‘s $1 million Palestine donation. The pledge comes in direct response to the rapper’s public call for wealthy celebrities to contribute to organizations providing essential humanitarian aid to those affected by the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

On Thursday, Sept. 17, Ms. Rachel utilized her Instagram platform to share a message urging her peers to take action. “I will match Macklemore’s donation and I invite every wealthy white celebrity to match it and speak out against the genocide in Gaza,” she wrote. Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, she noted that over 20,000 Palestinian children have been killed, adding, “We have a moral obligation to use our privilege and platforms to protect children and human rights.”

Context of the Donation and Industry Fallout

This development follows a period of significant industry tension surrounding Macklemore, who was recently removed from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour following his vocal pro-Palestine advocacy. The decision, reportedly influenced by pressure from stadium owners and organizers, triggered a wave of solidarity from other artists. Performers including Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe, and Beoga subsequently withdrew from the tour in support of the rapper.

In response to the controversy, Macklemore announced he would donate his entire $1 million earnings from the tour to six organizations dedicated to supporting Palestinians. He further challenged billionaire Robert Kraft, the owner of Gillette Stadium, to match his contribution. Robert Kraft later confirmed that he had already been in discussions with Ed Sheeran regarding a $2 million donation to humanitarian efforts in the region, though he did not specify the exact organizations that would receive the funds.

“I have dedicated much of my life to building bridges between all people. I believe deeply that all lives are worth protecting,” Kraft stated via the Gillette Stadium Instagram account.

As the conversation continues, Ms. Rachel’s public commitment highlights the growing pressure on public figures to leverage their influence in the face of international humanitarian crises.
