Olivia Rodrigo Reveals London-Inspired Third Album

Olivia Rodrigo has announced her third studio album, 'You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love,' set for release this June.

Following the massive success of her debut Sour and the critically acclaimed Guts, Olivia Rodrigo is preparing to return with her third studio album. Titled You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, the project is scheduled for release on June 12. While details regarding the tracklist remain scarce, Rodrigo has begun to pull back the curtain on the creative process behind this new chapter.

In a recent conversation with British Vogue, the singer-songwriter described the collection as being anchored by “sad love songs.” She explained that her fascination with the genre stems from the complexity of human emotion, noting, “I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.”

Rodrigo offered a glimpse into the vulnerability required to write these tracks. She shared that one particular song explores the intensity of early attraction, admitting, “I’m very stubborn and if I like someone, I’m like, ‘Yo, this is going to happen. This is rare! Let’s do it.’ The person that the song is about is great.”

Another track on the album serves as a meditation on the experience of falling in love. “You’re getting to the core of all of your issues: how you feel about yourself, your insecurities, what makes you joyful,” she said. “It feels like the most raw form of you, which is so scary and terrifying and uncomfortable, sometimes, but beautiful at times.”

“I’ve found a lot of inspiration from being in London. I’ve spent so much time here over the course of making this album. It has a lot of songs that are London vibes, about experiences that I’ve had here.”

The influence of the UK is a central theme for the upcoming record, largely attributed to the time she has spent in London alongside her boyfriend, Louis Partridge. As fans await the June release, it is clear that this project will offer a more mature, introspective look at the pop star’s life and artistic evolution.
