The West-London multi-hyphenate p-rallel gathers the wide-reaching sounds of his genre-jumping upbringing to create this wholly, singular project. Bringing together a handful of his peers, many of which are cultivating their own waves within the UK Underground scene, from psychedelic-soul artist Greentea Peng to NiNE8 Collective’s, eclectically-influenced Nayana Iz, ‘Soundboy’ reflects the same vibrancy as the city it represents.

Kicking off with ‘Signal’, its breezy, summer-infused feel perfectly leans you into this atmospheric EP. Already displaying his all-embracing style with this colourful-tapestry of the producer/DJs musicality. Moving on to his second single off of the EP ‘Soulboy’, alongside London’s experimental artist Greentea Peng, brings the pair together in perfect cohesion, as she seamlessly works herself into the reggae-inspired melodies and heavy basslines.

Continuing with his ode to West London, ‘WestBorn’ featuring Grammy-nominated saxophonist and producer Venna brings a soulful flavour amongst its carefree synths and its funk-inspired bass. Moving into the lead single from the project, ‘Packed Bags’ featuring London’s Louis Culture holding heavy, bassy soundscapes and detailed percussion whilst the rapper flawlessly fits his melodic verse around the intricate production.

Switching up the vibe for a slightly darker, eerie instrumental on ‘Know Why’, West-London’s Nayana Iz brings her versatile and distinctive melodic tendencies, taking p-rallel’s playful production to the next level.

Rounding out this vivid project, the producer calls upon his fellow Elevation/Meditation collective member and frequent collaborator Lord Apex on ‘Been Living’. The track, boasting a range of live instrumentation aids the colourful-lyricist with a canvas open to interpretation, continuing to prove his ability to flow on anything handed to him. Conversing on their and their peer’s rise through the underground scene and beyond, this soulful, funk-infused track is a perfect way to round out this vibrant and lively project. ‘Soundboy’ comes as a perfect introduction to all that is p-rallel, bringing you further into his world with every track.
