The Week's Best Latin Music Moments: Sech, Maluma & More

From career milestones to new music releases and major announcements, and more, Billboard editors highlight the latest news buzz in Latin music every week.

Here’s what happened in the Latin music world this week.

Natti Natasha reached 2 billion views on YouTube

Natti Natasha announced to her fans on social media that she has officially surpassed two billion views on YouTube with her 2017 hit “Criminal” in collaboration with Ozuna. The sensual reggaeton, which was produced by Haze and written by Jhay Cortez, Natti Natasha and Ozuna, marked an emblematic moment in Natti’s music career.

“That has been one of my most important collaborations because I feel that that song was my second chance,” she previously told Billboard. “Before that, I had so many great songs that never got released because I didn’t have the help and support and I’m very grateful that he said yes and believed in me, my song, and my team, Pina Records. To me, it’s such a special song because I had the opportunity to write my part of the lyrics and I just really loved it. When Ozuna agreed, I was extremely excited and for some reason, I knew people were going to love it as much as we did. It’s one of the most important songs in my whole career.”

As she celebrates her new milestone, the Dominican artist is making the rounds with her new single, “Despacio,” in collaboration with Nicky Jam, Manuel Turizo, and Myke Towers.

Sech released four new songs

After expressing on various tweets this week that his Instagram has been hacked, Sech dropped four new songs titled “Trofeo,” “Panama City,” “Goteras” and “Fe.” At first, over 700 photos and videos were removed from the Panamanian artist’s account, showing four “leaked” audios. Artists such as J Balvin and Manuel Turizo reacted to Sech’s unedited music with fire emojis.

After a couple of hours, the Latin Grammy-nominated artist was able to recuperate his account, in which he promised fans he would release the four songs that form part of his upcoming album. The tracks are all available on his YouTube channel.

Maluma hints at collaboration with Don Omar

Straight from his home in Medellin, Maluma shared a preview of his new music, which seems to be a collaboration with reggaeton veteran Don Omar. “Sincerely, the least loved,” he posted on the clip, tagging Don Omar. “And now, who will defend us?” Omar reposted.
