This Nike Air Force 1 Low Honors the Houston Comets’ Historical Four-Peat

When going down the list of the most dominant sports teams in history, the Houston Comets squad from 1997-2000 deserves their place on the list. The WNBA franchise created one of the league’s first-ever dynasties with his “Big 3” in Sheryl Swoopes, Tina Thompson and Cynthia Cooper and won four consecutive championships. And so to honor this historical achievement, Nike has put together a special Air Force 1 Low “Houston Comets Four-Peat” colorway and revealed it by way of official imagery.

The most enticing features of this hoops-inspired pair arrive towards the rear. A four-fingered hand icon next to an “x” sign is embroidered into the lateral heel while the traditional Nike rear insignias are substituted out for “‘97 ‘98” on the left shoe and “‘99 ‘00” on the right side to call out the seasons the Comets were world champs. The team’s patriotic hues are used for accents across its predominantly white base by touching down on the Swooshes and heel overlays. Standard metallic silver “AF1” lace deubres are situated on the bottom of the throat, while the outsoles and midsole “Air” hits are doused in full navy.

Nike and select retailers will likely launch these in the coming months.
