Paging the VH1 divas!
Earlier today (July 13), Kygo announced that this Friday, July 17, he’s releasing an edit of Tina Turner’s enduring 1984 classic “What’s Love Got To Do With It.” The news makes Turner the second legendary singer to receive Kygo’s Midas touch, with the Norwegian producer’s 2019 update of Whitney Houston’s “Higher Love” cover giving the late great singer her first posthumous hit.
Putting his name alongside two of the most crucial vocalists in musical history is a savvy one for the Norwegian producer, with his Houston edit exposing him to entirely new audiences and the Turner rework sure to do the same. Of course, both Houston and Turner were among the first wave of vocalist royalty to be featured in VH1’s epic Divas Live series of concert extravaganzas, which throughout its nearly two decade run featured a who’s who of female pop superstardom belting their respective lungs out on basic cable.
