Willie Nelson will be the subject of a new concert special on A&E. The two-hour event, titled Willie Nelson: American Outlaw, will pay tribute to the country legend’s seven-decade career through performances, interviews and behind-the-scenes concert footage.
The special includes over 20 new televised performances by George Strait, Jimmy Buffett, Chris Stapleton, Dave Matthews, Eric Church, Emmylou Harris, Jack Johnson, Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Norah Jones and The Little Willies and many more. Willie Nelson: American Outlaw will premiere on April 12 at 10 p.m. ET on A&E.
The concert event is part of a series of country-focused specials. Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers will be featured in upcoming country music documentaries on A&E. Biography: Dolly premieres on April 12 at 8 p.m. ET while Biography: Kenny premieres April 13 at 9 p.m. ET. Each documentary will focus on the singers’ respective journeys in country music and the impact of their careers.
Nelson’s documentary news comes on the heels of his latest album announcement. The country legend recently revealed First Rose of Spring, his 70th studio album, will be released on April 24.
