Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton Announce Drop 2 of Their Fragrance Capsule

Now that all of the buzz surrounding the appointment of Pharrell as its newest Men’s Creative Director has more or less simmered down, Louis Vuitton is drawing our attention back to its ongoing collaborative projects. Revisiting its latest partnership with Yayoi Kusama, Louis Vuitton has officially unveiled Drop 2 of its fragrance capsule.

This newest assemblage keys in on the Japanese artist’s affinity for flowers, faces and pumpkins. Floral imagery is a common theme that’s present in her life’s work and has been represented through a variety of mediums such as paintings, sculptures, installations and serigraphy. This is translated through the Spell On You fragrance that is crafted with a floral and sensual scent and encapsulated by a polka dot Baccarat glass bottle and housed in a leather Travel Case.

Accompanying this fragrance is the Faces installment which draws inspiration from Kusama’s paintings. The Attrape-Rêves scent is ornamented with a pattern that’s exclusive to this collaboration which entails a collection of humorous and smiley faces all over the bottle in a vivid blend of colors.

Rounding out the collection is the Pumpkins offering which references the artist’s love for the Halloween symbol tha dates back to her early childhood when she would constantly draw them in elementary school. Plastered all over the L’Immensité are her signature pumpkin graphics that arrive in a brighter mixture of Spring/Summer-friendly colors. This print also makes an appearance on the Boîte Chapeau Flaconnier — Monogram canvas box that secretly stores the entire Drop 1 and Drop 2 collections.

Drop 2 is set to launch via Louis Vuitton stores on March 31 for €320 a bottle (approx. $341 USD).

In case you missed it, Louis Vuitton just opened its ‘White Canvas: LV Trainer in Residence’ exhibition in Milan.
