Sour Patch Kids & UPROXX Turned Chicago Into A Tropical Escape

During a high-energy festival weekend in Chicago, SOUR PATCH KIDS and UPROXX teamed up to create an immersive tropical pop-up experience.

During a recent festival weekend in Chicago, SOUR PATCH KIDS and UPROXX collaborated to transform the city into a vibrant, sun-drenched destination. The activation, situated just outside the main festival grounds, offered attendees a refreshing reprieve from the heat, headlined by the infectious sounds of dream pop duo The Two Lips.

The pop-up was designed to mirror the lush, tropical aesthetic of the SOUR PATCH KIDS Tropical Fruit Mix candy. Guests were treated to a variety of engaging activities, including exclusive merchandise, interactive games, and the crowd-favorite SOUR PATCH KIDS-flavored slushies. The space served as a perfect intersection of music, flavor, and community.

To capture the spirit of the event, UPROXX Sound Check host Jeremy Hecht engaged with festival-goers to explore their personal preferences. The conversations delved into the dual nature of the candy—asking fans to identify who among their group was the “sweet” one and who leaned toward the “sour” side—before pivoting to lighthearted questions about their most chaotic recent experiences.

Beyond the immediate festivities, Hecht challenged the crowd to conceptualize the ultimate, albeit currently fictional, SOUR PATCH KIDS music festival. Fans shared their creative visions for everything from event rules and fashion trends to the ideal atmosphere and dance floor lighting. While the festival remains a dream for now, the energy at the Chicago activation proved that the concept has plenty of potential.
