Cam’ron and J. Cole have officially put an end to their legal dispute concerning their 2024 collaboration, “Ready ’24.” According to court documents obtained by XXL on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, the parties have reached an agreement in principle to resolve all outstanding claims and are currently finalizing the necessary settlement paperwork.
While the specific financial and legal terms of the settlement remain confidential, both artists are expected to complete the agreement within the next 30 days. This resolution marks the conclusion of a high-profile disagreement that began when Cam’ron initiated legal action against the Dreamville founder. The Harlem rapper had alleged that a verbal agreement existed wherein J. Cole would reciprocate his guest verse on the Might Delete Later track by appearing on a Cam’ron song or featuring on his It Is What It Is podcast—commitments that Cam’ron claimed were never honored.
Cam’ron had initially sought to be credited as a co-author on the track, alongside monetary damages exceeding $500,000, citing a lack of compensation for his 2022 recording session. J. Cole’s legal team vehemently denied these allegations in a February motion, asserting that no such promises were made.
The tension eventually dissipated following a candid sit-down between the two on the Talk With Flee podcast in March. During the conversation, which followed the release of Cole’s The Fall-Off, the artists addressed the friction directly. J. Cole admitted to feeling initial frustration regarding the lawsuit, noting, “When the lawsuit came out, I was like, ‘Come on Cam.’ My ego reaction is like, quietly, I’m like, ‘f**k this ni**a.’ But quickly I’m like, ‘But nah I get it though.'”
Ultimately, Cam’ron acknowledged that the legal maneuver was largely a calculated publicity stunt designed to capture the attention of the North Carolina lyricist. “Of course it was never gonna go anywhere, but for me it was like, ‘I need to get this ni**a attention,'” he explained.
