At Coach, Stuart Vevers looks back to define the future of the American House for Winter 2023. Following on from its sustainable (Re)Loved initiative, the brand has gone on to create a winter-ready collection that blends American heritage with pop culture and youth-centric sensibilities, culminating around a Lil Nas X-curated capsule.
“Our Winter collection is inspired by my belief that fashion is about exploring and celebrating all of who you are,†said Vevers. “To create the collection, we twisted the Coach archives and were also inspired by Lil Nas X’s connection to music and nightlife. We evolved heritage styles introduced on the runway last season by amplifying color, texture and graphics to create pieces that celebrate our love for individuality and authentic self-expression that we share,†he added.
With this in mind, Coach presents classic Americana with a welcomed contemporary twist — think leather biker jackets served in hot Barbiecore pink, leopard print adorning shearling jackets, cardigans and the archival Bonnie Cashin bag, and other shearling numbers appearing in bright orange, but shaped in the formation of workwear cues.
Likewise, a Y2K love heart motif adorns a sheer slip dress, while sparkling black sequins decorate other dresses and small purse bags for nights on the town. Zip-up hoodies are paired with nostalgic T-shirts and hot black leather shorts, shearling reworks booties like a pair of luxe UGG boots, and oversized beanies gear towards a Nirvana teen spirit.
The looks come together in a lookbook made of mirror selfies — once again, referencing the current cultural zeitgeist. Take a look at Coach Winter 2023 in the gallery above, and find more about the brand online.
