Porsche Design has unveiled a special timepiece honoring Porsche’s dedication to sports cars over the past decades – aptly named Chronograph 1 – 75 Years Porsche Edition.
Modeled after the 1972 Chronograph I, the new rendition not only looks and feels like its historical predecessor, but it also comes with improved details and modern functionality. The watch is housed in a black titanium carbide coated and glass bead blasted case, which measures 40.8mm in diameter. Doused in black from the case, bezel to dial, the Chronograph demonstrates a sleek, sporty, and stealthy appeal, complete with white indices, tachymeter, and subdials for a splash of contrast. It’s also equipped with a specially designed textile/leather strap that nods to the color schemes of Porsche’s 75th-anniversary logo.
Gracing the caseback’s sapphire crystal is a full-colored Porsche Crest, affixed at the center of the Fuchs rotor while engravings of the edition’s logo, as well as batch number, encircle it. In terms of movement, the timepiece operates on the brand’s own COSC-certified WERK 01.140 calibre, geared with day and date display and a 48-hour power reserve.
Releasing as a limited edition of 475, the Chronograph 1 is priced at $11,000 USD and is currently available for pre-order via Porsche Design’s official website.
Elsewhere in watches, Panerai presents two new novelties at its Madison Avenue Boutique opening.
