First debuted on its Milan Fashion Week runway in January, Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY’s AW23 collection, dubbed “The Engine Room,†is officially hitting shelves. In Drop One, the London-based fashion imprint begins with signature statements, delivering a slew of pattern-clad jackets, sweaters, bottoms and accessories, among several other double-take-worthy apparel items.
Inside the line, mohair jumpers, boasting high-brightness stripes, feature built-in gloves, while graphic-embossed iterations host the brand’s logo, front and center. Punkish codes fuel a pair of buckle trousers, with 10 belt loops circling both legs, as well as mini kilt dresses, with similar clasps at the waist. Classic check patterns cover scarves, kilts and long-sleeve tops, while a bold all-over “Art†motif commands a slew of denim designs. In accessories, LOVERBOY places an emphasis on knitwear, with striking ear beanies, balaclavas and mohair gloves.
“The collection has a ’50s feel to it with [the influences] of John Byrne and teddy boys, and there’s also traditional maximalism,†Jeffrey told Hypebeast backstage at the January show. “Kind of like, fierce, nuclear tartans, almost so wrong that they’re right. We’ve shifted our primary colors into cobalt, orange and gold, and we’ve used Byrne’s paintings as prints themselves.â€
The first installment of Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY’s AW23 collection is now available to shop on the brand’s webstore. Prices range from $39 USD to $795 USD. Take a closer look at the range in the gallery above.
